What do we think about trouble?

‘Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.’ (2 Cor 4:16-18)

Paul and his fellow workers had suffered for Christ. They were persecuted and perplexed. Paul prayed constantly for the churches he had established as often he had been forced to leave them because of the opposition from the Jews and city authorities. However he was not in despair. He did not feel abandoned. He never considered giving up his preaching of Jesus Christ as Lord.

What did Paul remember as he faced opposition and trouble? Why did he not become discouraged? Paul knew that even though his physycal body was deteriorating(not only because of age but also because of the physical suffering he had endured), inwardly he was being renewed. He was drawing closer to the Lord, he was becoming more holy and he was depending on Christ’s power. The troubles were light and momentary compared to the eternal glory achieved. The troubles were ‘featherweight’ compared to the ‘heavyweight’ of eternal glory.

Do we have an eternal perspective about troubles? Whatever we are facing, whatever our world looks like, we need to remember that our lives now are very short compared to eternity. Our troubles now also change our character. We develop perseverance and become mature and complete. We learn to depend on our Heavenly Father instead of on our resources. We begin to remember we are citizens of the kingdom of heaven rather than focusing on here and now. And we fix our eyes on Jesus who went before us.

We are being transformed

‘We are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit’ (2 Cor 3:18)
We are being transformed into Christ’s likeness. What was Christ like? Christ never sinned. He was pure and holy, He loved people, He was compassionate and He was prepared to serve others. At the same time He was obedient to His Father and put God’s honour first. That meant that He not only healed people, fed them and showed His care for them but He was also angry at the sin He saw in the world and spoke out against hypocritical attitudes.

We started life as sinners. We did what we wanted and we put ourselves first. When we were saved by God’s grace, our sinful nature was put to death and we began to live by the Spirit. The Spirit is transforming us and our lives are showing the fruit of the Spirit. Our lives are showing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The characteristics are not ones that we see around us in this world. The world still opposes God. People who are part of this world do not want to know God or submit to His rule. But those of us who belong to Christ are different. We are not perfect yet but we are being changed. As we live for Christ we do everything to the glory of God. May people look at us now and see that we are becoming like Jesus.

secangkir kopi kehidupan

SECANGKIR KOPI KEHIDUPAN

Dalam sebuah acara reuni, beberapa alumni menjumpai guru sekolah mereka dulu.
Melihat para alumni tsb ramai-ramai membicarakan kesuksesan mereka,

Jangan pernah membiarkan cangkir mempengaruhi kopi yg kita nikmati.
Cangkir bukanlah yg utama, Kualitas kopi itulah yg terpenting”.

“Kunci menikmati kopi bukanlah seberapa bagus cangkirnya, tetapi seberapa bagus kualitas kopinya.”. “Mari kita menikmati secangkir kopi kehidupan yg berkualitas . . .”
*Semoga berguna dalam menikmati kopi kehidupan kita masing2..

And this article is written by a man not woman.
Because if a woman wrote this, maybe some of you will think:
“Girl is always demanding! Wishing a guy to be like this or like that.”
But because this is written from a man, means that he himself aware of how important his role as a man.

Ladies, here we go.. Here’s a man worth waiting for! 😉
